ISOFIX is a car seat fitting standard that was designed to make fitting child car seats easier with a lower chance of incorrect fitting in your vehicle. ISOFIX points in all cars, no matter the manufacturer of the vehicle, are the same - following regulations that came into force in 2004. All vehicles produced since February 2013 are required to have ISOFIX points, but you will find many vehicles between these dates will also have these fittings – a quick check of your vehicle manual will confirm this for you.
It is simple to attach the car seat to the ISOFIX points – follow the instructions for your particular seat, but in essence, you push the connectors on the seat onto the d-shape rings that are located in your car. Unfortunately, ISOFIX on its own is not safe enough to prevent tipping or rotating in an accident, therefore it does need to be used in conjunction with either a support leg or a top tether. If you are not sure which is best for you and your vehicle, give outr trained and helpful team a call.
